Trons

Open Source hardware for your Building.

  1. Step 1

    Create account

Click here to make your free Trons account.

    No credit card required

  2. Step 2

    Purchase hardware recipe

Pick the use cases you need and put together a cart. You purchase from online retailers.

  3. Step 3

    Program & install

Plug the device into your computer, program it for $10 as a Cloud Tron or a Local Tron, then install it.

Cloud Trons

Send data to Maintenance Station directly over a WiFi or wired IP connection. They let buildings without a building automation system stream data to your mobile phone via Maintenance Station.

  • Send data with MQTT
  • Device error codes help remote troubleshooting and local FDD
  • Easy updates from your Trons login

Local Trons

Send data via BACnet to local systems like the Tron Gateway or your existing BAS controllers.

  • BACnet devices
  • Device error codes help remote troubleshooting and add local FDD
  • Easy updates from your Trons login

Tron Gateway Kit

Advanced data integration device.

The Tron Gateway integrates with commercial building HVAC, metering, lighting, Trons and other building systems by speaking BACnet, Modbus and other protocols.

Watch the automated integration workflows and local decision model race away as they make a first pass at configuring your building's integration.

One click connects it to our Maintenance Station cloud, so you can view your data on your mobile phone. It also syncs natively with SkySpark, or sends data via MQTT to your own broker.

Software renews at $135 / year.

Trons Use Cases

Zone Sensors

  1. The room: temperature, humidity, air, people

  2. A Tron with a plug-in sensor

  3. Points in your BAS, or on your phone

M5Stack ENV III unit

Zone Temperature + Humidity

Comfort complaints, server closets, storage rooms.

Olimex ESP32-POE-ISO-IND

PoE Temperature + Humidity

Wired, PoE-powered temperature, humidity and pressure for mechanical rooms and places Wi-Fi doesn't reach.

M5Stack TMOS PIR unit

Room Presence

Occupied/vacant — including people sitting still — for scheduling, space use and after-hours activity.

M5Stack IR unit

Mini-Split IR Control

Setpoint, mode and on/off for a ductless mini-split.

M5Stack CO2 unit

CO2 / Ventilation Check

Ventilation and demand-control verification for conference rooms and classrooms.

M5Stack ENV Pro unit

Indoor Air Quality (VOC)

VOC / gas trends plus temperature, humidity and pressure — odor complaints, ventilation checks.

Preventive Maintenance Sensors

  1. Equipment and spaces nobody watches

  2. A Tron listening for trouble

  3. An alert before the failure

Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32-S3

Vibration Sensor

Watches motors, chillers, boilers, and other mechanical equipment for the vibration signature that shows up long before the failure does.

Olimex MOD-BME280 sensor

Mechanical Room Monitor

Temperature, humidity, and leak sensing for the rooms nobody visits — so the mechanical room tells you when something is off.

M5Stack Hall Effect unit

Door / Window Contact

Propped-door alerts, access monitoring, open-window checks.

Meter Reading

  1. The meters you already have

  2. A Tron reads the face, counts pulses, or clamps the circuit

  3. A BACnet point, or data on your phone

M5 PoE camera

Powered Camera Digitizer

Point a camera at any meter, gauge, LED panel, or analog dial — it reads the face on the device and serves the value as a point.

M5 battery timer camera

Battery Photo Taker

Asleep most of the month, it wakes on schedule, takes a single reading, and ships the image along with the value so every number is auditable.

M5Stack AtomS3 Lite

Meter Pulse Counter

Water, gas and electric meter pulses — usage and leak detection.

Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32-S3

Electric Panel Circuit Monitoring

A mini device and a current transducer give circuit-level monitoring exactly where you need it — start with one circuit, add a clamp for each additional one.

The one‑month function guarantee

Every Tron has one job, and one month to prove it can do it in your building. If it can't, send it back within the first month (you cover the return shipping) and we'll refund the purchase in full as soon as it arrives.

Buying a ton of Trons?

Programming all those small devices yourself is a lot of effort. Let us do it: we're set up to program thousands of Trons in hours, pack them in labeled boxes and deliver them to you.
